FAQ
What is involved if I want to switch from my current supplier?
If you own your own tank all that is required is that we have our gas technician inspect your gas system to make sure it is safe and up to code. If you require a rental tank we will simply switch out your existing tank for one of ours.
NOTE: Your propane supply will be interrupted for a short time only.
What if there is leftover gas in my old tank?
We will pump any remaining propane from your existing tank into ours, so there is no need to wait until your tank is empty.
How do I know what size of tank I need?
Waterloo County Propane staff will work with you to determine the appropriate tank size for your situation. Usually a site visit by one of our representatives is required to assess tank and equipment requirements.
When installing a gas line, how deep does the trench need to be?
The gas line must be a minimum of 18 inches below final grade.
Where should I put the propane tank?
The tank needs to be at least 10 feet from your house, your property line, and any source of ignition. It also needs to be no more than 100 feet from where our delivery truck will park, and it must be in a direct line of sight from the truck.
Please call us and we’ll help you determine the best location for your tank.
Can my natural gas appliances be converted to propane?
In most cases, yes. Please call us and we’ll have a service technician look at your appliances and make that determination.
