Waterloo County Propane offers various delivery options:
Automatic Fill
Most of our customers are scheduled for automatic propane delivery. We encourage this because there is less of a chance of running out of propane.
Our automatic fill system is based on a degree day meaning if the average temperature for the day is below 18 degrees, most customers will require some heat to be used for their homes.
This system helps us calculate how much propane you will use for each degree day, letting us know when to fill your tank. If an automatic fill customer runs out of propane, we will fill the tank right away.
Will Call
With the Will Call propane delivery option, it is very important that you keep an eye on the level of propane in the tank. Please allow five working days for delivery.
If you supplement your heating fuel with other methods like wood or corn stoves, please notify us so we can service the account on a call-as-needed basis.
With Will Call, you must re-order fuel when your tank gets to 20%. We also offer a wireless monitoring system that allows you to view your tank fuel percent from the comfort of your home. These monitors are available for a small fee.
NOTE: If you unintentionally allow your tank to run out of propane, we have an after hours emergency service that comes with an extra cost.
Calendar Day
If you would like your fuel delivered at a specific time of the year, such as every November and April, we can program our system accordingly. This option is especially useful for seasonal customers.
Please call us and we’ll help you choose the best delivery option.
Emergency Run-Out Procedures
In the event that you have run out of propane, call our 24-hour emergency number at 519-622-3720.
Waterloo County Propane gives you access to a 24-hour emergency home heating phone number. This way, you can feel secure in the knowledge that you will have safe and reliable propane service all year round, regardless of weather.
Seasonal & Unoccupied Properties
If you have a seasonal property, or a property that will be unoccupied for a duration of time, remember that you have a responsibility to protect your home against damage arising from a drop in or loss of heat. This scenario can result in frozen pipes and water damage. As a property owner it is important that you check and understand your home owner’s insurance policy, so you know how many consecutive days away from your home are stipulated in your insurance policy. Freeze ups in an occupied/empty or unoccupied property/home can cause expensive losses. Water from broken pipes can flood a house in a matter or hours causing structural damage to the house and loss of personal property. Please call us to schedule your propane delivery if you are running low.
Propane Tank Sizes
Propane tanks come in a variety of sizes. Selecting the correct size is important for residential customers. Propane tanks and the propane inside are measured in pounds or gallons. The tanks also vary in physical dimensions. Various propane tank sizes are needed in order to meet the diverse residential needs of customers (i.e. a propane tank used to dry clothes requires a very different tank size than one used for residential heat). Please call us to help you select the correct size option for your propane uses.
